NBA NEWS & NOTES

Raymond Felton will sign the one-year, $5.5 million qualifying offer from the Charlotte Bobcats, according to multiple sources.
The Bobcats had been discussing a long-term deal with Felton, but neither side was eager to budge from their respective positions.
“Raymond is just ready to put the focus back on basketball,” Felton’s agent, Kevin Bradbury, said. “He doesn’t want any of this to affect the team at the start of training camp. So, we’ll look forward to him having a great season, the Bobcats having a great season and we will talk more with the organization when it is appropriate.”

The Wolves on Tuesday waived veteran guard Chucky Atkins, agreeing to pay him $760,000 for a $3.48 million contract that was mostly non-guaranteed.
Mark Blount and his $7.96 million expiring contract are expected to be waived in the next week.

The Heat have extended the contract of head coach Erik Spoelstra.
The move comes in the wake of news that all the team's employees in basketball operations, including president Pat Riley, accepted voluntary pay cuts earlier this year.
Spoelstra, who reportedly was given a three-year contract when he was named head coach in April 2008, did not disclose terms of the extension, but it is believed to be for one year.
