LO falls back hard for LA

Courtesy of:Espn.com/NBA
By J.A. Adande and Marc Stein ESPN.com
Free agent forward Lamar Odom will return to the Los Angeles Lakers, an NBA source said Thursday.
Odom
One source close to the process told ESPN.com that Odom will come away with a guaranteed $27 million from the new contract, matching the original value of the three-year, $27 million deal Lakers owner Jerry Buss pulled off the table earlier this month.
It's believed that the structure of the new deal calls for Odom to earn $25 million over the first three seasons, with the Lakers owing him $2 million in the fourth year if they elect not to pick up their team option.
Reached Thursday evening, Odom's agent Jeff Schwartz declined to discuss specifics but confirmed that the sides have an agreement in principle.
Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak declined comment.
Odom's signing was the most significant free agent move left to play out this summer, as it restores a pivotal piece to the Lakers' championship team. The versatile, 6-foot-10 Odom averaged 11.3 points and 8.2 rebounds during the regular season and 12.3 points and 9.1 rebounds during the playoffs, despite injuring his back in a fall during the Western Conference semifinals against Houston.
Odom's destination for the 2009-10 season had remained in doubt after the Lakers pulled an initial offer of a reported $27 million guaranteed over three years off the table. As the other franchises with significant salary cap space spent their money elsewhere, the Miami Heat emerged as a serious contender for Odom's services. On Tuesday, the Portland Trail Blazers also got into the mix, offering a five-year, $40 million deal, according to a source close to Odom.
With Dwyane Wade publicly lobbying for Odom to rejoin him in South Beach, the Heat offered a deal worth up to $34 million over five years. The fact that Odom didn't jump at it despite the cooled tone of negotiations with the Lakers indicated his desire to return to Los Angeles, and the longer the saga dragged out the greater the chances seemed that he would be back.
With Odom back in the fold the Lakers would have their top five scorers and top four rebounders from the 2009 championship on the roster to begin the title defense. The only significant loss is forward Trevor Ariza, who left to sign a contract with the Houston Rockets after the Lakers signed former Rocket Ron Artest.
J.A. Adande and Marc Stein are NBA reporters for ESPN.com. ESPN's Shelley Smith contributed to this report.

Raptors Get Marco Belinelli

Raptors receive Marco Belinelli from the Golden State Warriors for Devean George and cash considerations.

To me this move was a great move to make this guy is a real good 2 who can play the 1 sometime(But limited) I also rememeber this guy from the Fiba Championships about 2 years ago he was their guy for the Italians(Don`t misinterpet what i am saying, this guy will be a real nice piece to the puzzle in Toronto; ( Chris Bosh-he`s still the man in Toronto)

Hornets Sign Ike Diogu
25,Diogu is regarded as a low-cost option who has yet to reach his full potential after playing the past two seasons.

so not a bad signing to add a little depth to the Hornets Front Court.(also their staff can still help with development work with Ike)

The Philadelphia Eagles are saddened to announce Jim Johnson has passed away Tuesday afternoon at the age of 68 after a courageous battle with cancer.A veteran of 22 years as an NFL assistant, Johnson is regarded as one of the top defensive masterminds in National Football League history. Over the last decade, he gained a great deal of praise as the orchestrator of the renowned Eagles defense. His aggressive style kept Philadelphia at or near the top of the NFL in nearly every major defensive category since joining Andy Reid's staff on January 22, 1999.
Jim Johnson was beloved by his colleagues, playersFrom 2000-08, Johnson's units ranked second in the NFL in sacks (390), 3rd down efficiency (34.0%) and red zone touchdown percentage (43.9%), and fourth in fewest points allowed (17.7 per game). During his 10-year tenure in Philadelphia, the Eagles earned seven playoff berths, five trips to the NFC Championship game and one Super Bowl appearance (following the 2004 season). As the Eagles' defensive chief, Johnson's defense has produced 26 Pro Bowl selections: Brian Dawkins (7), Troy Vincent (5), Jeremiah Trotter (4), Hugh Douglas (3), Lito Sheppard (2), Asante Samuel (1), Trent Cole (1), Michael Lewis (1), Corey Simon (1), and Bobby Taylor (1).Four of his defensive assistants have gone on to successful careers with other NFL franchises: Steve Spagnuolo (head coach of the St. Louis Rams), John Harbaugh (head coach of the Baltimore Ravens), Ron Rivera (defensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers) and Leslie Frazier (defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings).Prior to his tenure in Philadelphia, Johnson served as the linebackers coach with Seattle in 1998. He arrived in Seattle after a four-year stint in Indianapolis, the last two as defensive coordinator. While with the Colts, Johnson helped them secure a berth in the AFC Championship game at Pittsburgh in 1995.Johnson spent eight seasons with the Arizona Cardinals (1986-93). CHANDLER FOR OKAFOR(NO-CHA)

Potential Trade
Sources: Chandler-Okafor deal in works

By Marc SteinESPN.comArchive
The New Orleans Hornets are closing in on a trade that would send center Tyson Chandler to the Charlotte Bobcats for Emeka Okafor, signaling the Hornets' unexpected intent to keep up with the contenders and spenders in the Western Conference.
Chandler
NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com that the deal was nearly consummated Friday and that talks had advanced to the point that the swap could be completed Tuesday, barring any unexpected late snags.
Although Chandler ($11.7 million) and Okafor ($10.6 million) carry similar salaries for next season, New Orleans' apparent willingness to take on Okafor's contract -- with four years remaining after next season -- is a marked departure from the Hornets' recent cost-conscious efforts to move Chandler.
Okafor
The Hornets dealt Chandler to Oklahoma City days before the league's annual trading deadline in February for the expiring contracts of Chris Wilcox and Joe Smith, only for the Thunder to rescind the trade 24 hours later because of concerns about Chandler's long-standing toe problems.
The widespread belief then and during New Orleans' subsequent discussions with Phoenix about swapping Chandler for the expiring contract of Ben Wallace -- which Phoenix has since bought out -- maintained that New Orleans was determined to shed Chandler's contract only for an expiring deal to create payroll relief.
Swapping Chandler for Okafor will save the Hornets only just over $1 million next season and cost them an extra $40-plus million over the final three years of Okafor's deal if the 26-year-old exercises his $14.5 million option for the 2013-14 season. Chandler has just one year left on his contract after this season at $12.6 million.
Although Chandler was a favorite of Hornets star Chris Paul for his ability to run the floor and finish lobs, making a so-called "basketball trade" as opposed to a salary dump is bound to be interpreted as a statement that the Hornets remain intent on keeping a quality team around their point guard.
It was not immediately known if the teams would expand the deal to include other players, but sources close to the process said talks featuring Chandler and Okafor as the main components have been ongoing since late last week.
The Bobcats would be giving up the only starting center in franchise history for Chandler, who was restricted to just 45 games last season because of myriad foot injuries. Okafor averaged 13.2 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocks last season in the first year of a new six-year, $72 million deal with the Bobcats.
Chandler averaged 8.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game last season.

OKC-MINNY TRADE

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Minnesota Timberwolves picked up point guard Chucky Atkins from Oklahoma City on Monday in exchange for veteran center Etan Thomas and four second-round draft picks next year.
Minnesota also got Oklahoma City guard Damien Wilkins in the deal.

JOAKIM NOAH:Striving For Greatness(THE FRENCH NATIONAL TEAM WANTS HIM BAD)

FRA – Noah remains with France for now
STRASBOURG (EuroBasket 2009) – A France squad attempting to qualify for the EuroBasket to keep alive its hopes of reaching the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey is much stronger with Joakim Noah than without him. That’s why the French Basketball Federation have revealed the Chicago Bulls center is still with the team and getting ready to play in friendly games in Strasbourg ahead of the Additional Qualifying Round (AQR) for the EuroBasket.France confirmed to FIBA.com that they are attempting to persuade the Bulls to let the 24-year-old play in the forthcoming games against Italy and Finland. The Bulls gave their blessing for the son of former French Open tennis champion Yannick Noah to participate in the preparations for the AQR earlier this year but made it clear they didn’t want their star to play when the French go for the last remaining spot on offer for the EuroBasket’s Final Round in Poland.National team boss Vincent Collet reduced his squad to 14 following the team’s training camp in Vichy over the weekend and Noah remained in the group. It’s easy to see why the French want the 2.11m Noah in their line-up.He came into his own in the play-offs this year when the Bulls nearly upset the Boston Celtics in the first round, averaging better than 10 points and 13 rebounds per game. His combative presence would come in handy, especially against the Italians who have seven-footer Andrea Bargnani of the Toronto Raptors.Should the French top their group in the AQR, they would take on the winners of Group A (Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina or Portugal) for the right to play at the EuroBasket.Aldo Curti and Ludovic Vaty were cut from the squad after Vichy but remain on stand-by.Collet must eventually cut his group to 12 players before France’s first AQR game at Italy on the island of Sardinia on August 5.France squad: Alexis Ajinca, Nicolas Batum, Yannick Bokolo, Nando De Colo, Mamoutou Diarra, Boris Diaw, Joseph Gomis, Alain Koffi, Joakim Noah, Tony Parker, Johan Petro, Florent Pietrus, Ali Traore and Ronny Turiaf.

IT`S VEGAS SUMMER LEAGUE TIME

BULLS HAD THEIR FIRST SUMMER LEAGUE GAME LAST NIGHT; EVENTHOUGHT, THE BULLS LOST IN THEIR FIRST GAME AT THE VEGAS SUMMER LEAGUE TO A HOT AND STACKED GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS TEAM.(NOTABLE WARRIORS PLAYING ANTHONY RANDOLPH-HAD 42 POINTS TIES THE MOST EVER IN THE VEGAS SUMMER LEAGUES HISTORY. ALSO STEPH CURRY, AND ANTHONY MORROW.)

BUT THE STORY FOR THE BULLS WAS JAMES JOHNSON AND TAJ GIBSON.

JAMES JOHNSON- CAN YOU SAY WOW, THIS GUY REALLY IMPRESS ME(I WAS A HUGE FAN OF HIS ALREADY) HE HAS EXCELLANT FEEL FOR PLAYMAKING, ALSO WATCHING HIM HANDLE THE BALL IT SEEM EFFORTLESS; HE ALSO LOOKED VERY GOOD ON OFFENSIVE KNOCKING DOWN JUMPERS, TAKING THE BALL STRONG TO THE RACK, LASTLY JJ HAD A VERY GOOD UNDERSTANDING ON THE OFFENSIVE SIDE. ON THE DEFENSEIVE SIDE JJ IS SOLID RIGHT NOW; HE NEEDS TO DEVELOP A BETTER FOCUS AND ALSO HE NEEDS MORE TIME TO DEVELOP AND GROW ON DEFENSE. BUT OTHER THAN THAT IF HE CAN ADD A FOCUS ON DEFENSE AND GROW MORE OF A UNDERSTANDING ON THE DEFENSIVE SIDE, WOW HE CAN BE A BIG-TIME PLAYER. I SEE HIM SIMILAR TO WHAT HE SAYED HIS GAME EMBRACES A PAUL PIERCE/MELO TYPE. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO ADD TO THAT LIST HE REMINDS ME A LITTLE KEY WORD LITTLE BIT OF LEBRON JAMES; HE DOESN`T HAVE THAT SAME ABILITY OF LBJ BUT MAN HE`S REAL CLOSE BASE OFF SIMILARITIES. HE FINISH WITH 21PTS 9REBS

TAJ GIBSON- HE HAD 14PTS 12REBS IN THE GAME. TAJ DID HAVE A GOOD GAME, HE SHOW US HIS ABILITY TO RUN THE FLOOR AND BE ACTIVE ON THE BOARDS. TAJ ALSO PROVIDED TWO OR THREE NICE MOVES IN THE POST. HE ALSO SHOWED LEADERSHIP ON THE COURT BY TALKING ON D.HIS COMPARISON REMINDS ME OF A MINI NOAH. VERY WELL SHOWING BY TAJ GIBSON HE WILL PROVE TO BE A VERY GOOD PLAYER FOR THE BULLS.

SO WE AS BULLS FANS SHOULD ENJOY THE FUTURE WHAT IN OUR MIST WITH THESE TWO AND ADD OUR YOUNG STARS ROSE,NOAH,DENG,ALSO TT. WOW WHAT TALENT AND WHAT A BRIGHT FUTURE.

Bulls and Boozer( Not so Fast My Friend)

Well, we all remember the talk and this familar photo seen on ESPN for 2days or so. Also Bulls Fans(and I) where thinking about how great it would Be to pair Boozer with Noah. Daydreaming of a all-star who is a 20/10 guy when healthy, and also imaging how he can help us against the Strong Bigs in the NBA, not to mention a pick and pop game with Derrick Rose. Also we would receive cap room and we could use him as a 1year rental or keep him long term. But I think all Bulls Fans including me didn`t want to wake up from the reality. The Boozer to Chicago is Dead Now, but this provided some fantasy and a dream for 2days.
Eventhought, the deal didn`t go through I am still very much big supporters of Kirk Hinrich and Tyrus Thomas. I think that this year Is going to be very interesting for these two. First, Kirk has to prove the BG lovers/KH haters Wrong. Which I think its going to be tough but hey he`s Captain Kirk so lets see how everything plays out. Tyrus is in his last year of his Contract before he becomes a restricted free agent in 2010; so he will be playing for a contract. So Bulls Fans and NBA lovers keep a eye on these two early and often.

Boozer to Chicago????(Rumors Rumors Rumors; WHY)

BOOZER HEADING TO CHICAGO

Well, Not so Fast Just Rumors Right Now. But everybody has been jumping on this rumor, and it`s been under raps for a little while, but now it`s all out in the open. Even Mark Stein and Ric Bucher are reporting on it as a headline. But they both stated"No Deal was imminent". So we will have to just wait and see what happens, Breaking News: I also saw that Mark Stein reported Mehmet Okur will get a 2 year extension for at least 20.8 Million. So that mostly likely means somebody has to go based of their Finacial Climate in Utah, so most likely Carlos is gone.(They want to Keep Paul Millsap)

We will see how this turns out for Utah and the other potential parties. Also thus far, for us Bulls fans really small news besides This Boozer Story and the Loss of BG to the Pistons; The Bulls sign their rookie picks today:James Johnson and Taj Gibson, also introduce the signing of Janiro Pargo on a 1year 2 million dollar deal. But really that`s been it, I have heard that my mentor and Idol(like you all know) Joakim Noah is really putting in the work this season; I`m hearing from a lot of people and media people, also in the Bulls Management/Organization have sayed that Jo`s upper body is looking very impressive. People are saying his body is looking better for his position and size at 7 foot. So that Should help him out big time when he`s battling against NBA center`s Now. I didn`t mean to get in depth with my scouting report, but I defintely think that Noah has all the tools to be a excellant player; his weakness right now is strength, but I think he just needs more lower strength thats how you defend the post(also don`t want to much weight on Noah that will effect his play.) Also, Tyrus has been working out hard this offseason so we should see a better tyrus this year(granted a trade). But thus far it`s quiet in Chicago, nothing but the Blows of the wind whistling through the Windy City these days.

News and Notes
